Annie Jorgensen – Host

Annie has worked at GV Hospice for 8 years, taking on the role of Clinical Manager & Quality Coordinator almost 4 years ago.  

Annie is an outstanding clinical leader, combining excellent clinical expertise with compassionate, person-centred practice. Annie oversees the multidisciplinary teams at GV Hospice; her leadership driving innovation and service excellence, ensuring care is delivered with empathy, respect, and care.

Les Young – Guest

Joining the Committee of Management in 1994, Les has been a valuable member of the service. Through his real estate profession, Les has been involved in all of the building acquisitions and obtaining fundraising for the service.

Stepping down from his position on the Committee in 2025, Les continues to support GV Hospice as a community representative on our Property Sub-Committee and attending fundraising events where possible.

John Beaver – Guest

John Beaver has been a dedicated member of GV Hospice since its early development. During his time, John has served on the Committee of Management, the fundraising committee, the Hospice Foundation, and undertaken many roles through the organisation with his property expertise.

Involved in many areas, John continues to support the service through his help with the Opportunity Shop and other building related matters at GV Hospice as well as a community representative on the Property Sub-Committee.

Carmel Smith – Guest

Carmel Smith began her palliative care career at GV Hospice in 2003 formerly working within Oncology at the Shepparton Private Hospital.

Carmel’s role within GV Hospice expanded throughout her time with the service from a nursing staff member to the eventual Executive Manager. Her dedication to the clients, carers and the local community saw the service lead the way in community palliative care and set a strong foundation that is still maintained today.

Marjo Reijnen – Guest

Marjo has worked at GV Hospice for 5 years, taking on roles as Associate Clinical Manager and the lead for the Aged Care team.

Marjo has been leading the Aged Care Project since its introduction in April 2023. With the team here at GV Hospice, she has provided integral education to the facilities around Shepparton in relation to palliative care within the aged care sector. She continues to be a strong advocate for aged care residents and their staff to ensure quality care is provided.

Dr John Hetherington – Guest

Noted as one of the key founders of GV Hospice, Dr John Hetherington has been a pioneer in the creation of the service. John has been involved with the service from its ealry days until resigning from the Committee of Management in 2021.

John was involved in many key periods of GV Hospice from its initial struggle to obtain funding, the development of the Opportunity Shop, maintaining a strong presidency in tough times all while maintaining his practice and involvement in other key organisations.

Robert Sands – Guest

Robert Sands has been a valued member of our Service since 1992 and remains the Secretary to the Committee of Management to this date. Rob has continued to provide support to the service from being President in 1995 till 2003.

Robert continues to support the service as the Chair of the Clinical Governance Sub-Committee, member of the Property Committee and Finance, Audit & Risk Sub-Committee.

Dr Adrian Buncle – Guest

Noted as one of the key founders of GV Hospice. Dr Buncle has been a formative figure throughout the years prior to the service’s official establishment. Specialising in General Medicine, Dr Buncle is a familiar figure throughout the Goulburn Valley from his time at GV Health and other health facilities in the region.

Working alongside Jenny Bradbury/Lewis, he offered his time and expertise and became on of the first Palliative Care Physicians in Australasia.

Dr Paul O’Dwyer – Guest

Dr Paul O’Dwyer has been a crucial supporter of GV Hospice within its early days. The former General Practitioner with Lister House Medical Centre has been contacted to GV Hospice since 1996. He formally joined the Committee of Management in 1996 and only recently resigned in 2025.

Throughout the years, alongside the likes of Dr Adrian Buncle, Dr O’Dwyer provided clinical support to the support as well as the staff. He was a key figure within the Murray to Moyne Ride and Fruit Loop Bike Ride raising over $700,000 respectively during their running years.
